STURDIVANT, Mo. -- Kenny O. James Sr., 70, of Sturdivant, beloved husband, daddy, grandpa, brother and uncle, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 7, 2013. He was born April 22, 1943, at Zalma, Mo., the son of Virgil and Flossie Morlan Loughary.
Kenny was a truck driver many years; most recently he drove for Rick Beussink. Kenny trucked more than 6 million miles in his career. He also was a fur buyer for Markham Fur Co. He was a member of the Zalma Masonic Lodge No. 545 AF/AM and Moolah Shriner of St. Louis and Cape Shrine Club.
Kenny and Janet Shavanor were united in marriage March 19, 1966, in Cape Girardeau, and she survives of the home.
Survivors include his wife, Janet James; a son, Kenny O. (Susan) James Jr. of Advance, Mo.; two daughters, Janice Fay James of the home and Ercie (Mike) Rodgers of Sturdivant; seven brothers, Edward "Buddy" James of Warrenton, Mo., Eules "Pete" James of Shelbyville, Mo., Eugene James of Cadet, Mo., Donald James of Advance, Roger Loughary of Sedgewicksville, Mo., Russell Loughary of St. Louis and Gary Loughary of Dowagiac, Mich.; two sisters, Mildred Borders of Gipsy, Mo., and Bessie Welker of Marble Hill, Mo.; five grandchildren, Dustin and Holly James and Tim, Jeremy and Kayla Rodgers; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Biggs, Dorothy Kirkman and Bea Myers, and two infant siblings.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, with a Masonic service at 7 p.m.
A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Larry Underwood officiating and the Rev. Ron McAtee assisting. Burial will be in Balch Cemetery.
