Kenny Hargis

Ervin Kenneth Knight Hargis, 55, of Fargo, Okla., crossed over Sunday, May 29, 2011, following a two-year battle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 16, 1955, on his Grandma Hargis' birth date, to Ervin Kenneth and Ellen Collins Hargis in Cape Girardeau.

Kenny proudly served 18 years in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his baby daughter, April Anne; his mother, Ellen; maternal grandparents, Ervin and Ollie Collins; paternal grandparents, Amos and Bertha Hargis, who helped raise him; a brother, Richard Stroder; and an uncle, Rudy Collins, all of Cape Girardeau.

Kenny is survived by his bride, Brandi; three sons, Kenny and Jacob of the home, David of Paducah, Ky.; an aunt, Pat Stroder Perry of Sun City West, Ariz., who helped raise him; his father and stepmother, Ervin and Roslyn Hargis of Phoenix; three grandchildren, Aymee, Courtney and David, all of Paducah; three brothers, Edward Devon (Dana) Hargis of Virginia, John Hargis of Alton, Ill., and Scott Stroder of Wood River, Ill.

Also three sisters, Kathy Gray of Hot Springs, Ark., Emily (Sean) Wells of Illinois, Marcia (Bill) Hane of Incline Village, Nev.; a stepsister, Alisa Yasin of Washington, D.C.; an aunt, Ruby Collins of Jackson; two uncles, Wayne and George Collins of Cape Girardeau; two nieces, Patti (Trent) August of Cape Girardeau and Leah (David) Conyers of Phoenix.

A military memorial service was held June 3 at Fargo United Methodist Church in Fargo.
