SIKESTON, Mo. -- Kenneth Herman Scheeter, 61, of Sikeston died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at his home.

He was born Nov. 2, 1940, in New Hamburg, Mo., son of Charles Otto and Mayme Westrich Scheeter. He and Mona Kay Sutton were married March 5, 1988, in Sikeston.

Scheeter was a 1958 graduate of Kelly High School at Benton, Mo.

He was employed at Homestead Distributing Co. 27 years and was a maintenance worker with Sikeston Public Schools nine years. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

Scheeter was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Alan Scheeter of Sikeston; three stepsons, Mark and Greg Branson of Sikeston, Shane Ray of Benton; two stepdaughters, Denise Branson of Rolla, Mo., and Sonya Baldwin of Sikeston.

Also surviving are four brothers, Webb Scheeter of Benton, Eddie Scheeter of Chaffee, Mo., Herb Scheeter of Cape Gir-ardeau, Alvin Scheeter of Danville, Ill.; four sisters, Arabella Stike, Orilla Pobst and Lois Eastwood of Chaffee, Ada Lee Hasenkamp of Benton; and five stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today. The rosary will be recited at 7:30.

Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Church, with the Rev. Stephen Schneider officiating. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery at New Hamburg.
