Kenneth W. Moffett Sr., 65, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center in Baton Rouge, La. He was born Sept. 10, 1942, in Kansas City, Mo., son of Kenneth Oren and Charlene Overby Moffett. He and Ethel Mae Peffer Moffett were married Jan. 26, 1961, in Independence, Mo...

Kenneth W. Moffett Sr., 65, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center in Baton Rouge, La.

He was born Sept. 10, 1942, in Kansas City, Mo., son of Kenneth Oren and Charlene Overby Moffett. He and Ethel Mae Peffer Moffett were married Jan. 26, 1961, in Independence, Mo.

Moffett retired from the U.S. Navy on July 31, 1980. He worked as a truck driver for J.B. Hunt trucking company for 17 years. He was a member of the Cape Girardeau Church of God.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Kenneth Wayne Moffett Jr. of Houston, Steven Moffett of Lakeland, Tenn., James Edward Moffett of Klamath Falls, Ore.; his mother, Charlene Barney of Lake Lafayette, Mo.; a sister, Barbara Silvers of Lake Lafayette; three brothers, James Stroud of Blue Springs, Mo., Edward Stroud of Bakersfield, Calif., Scott Barney of Odessa, Mo.; and 10 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gregory Priest officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery, with full military rites by the Missouri Honors Team.
