Mr. Kenneth W. Lennington Sr., 73, of Jackson, Mo., passed away at his home Saturday, Nov. 4, 2000.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Dennis Bell, Barry Winders and Thomas Bray officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery, with Missouri military honors at graveside.
Mr. Lennington was born Feb. 20, 1927, the son of the late James S. and Anna Susan (Houghland) Lennington in Pinckneyville, Ill. He married Bonnie L. Howard Lennington on June 15, 1947, and she survives of Jackson.
Also surviving is a son, Kenneth "Butch" Lennington Jr. of Jackson; four sisters, Martha Juanita Runnion of Clinton, Iowa, Virginia "Dee" Andricks of Chesterbon, Ind., Betty Jean Hodge of Kewanee, Ill., and Patricia Baker of DuQuoin, Ill.; and a half brother, Lester Robinson of Tilden, Ill.
A daughter, Judy Lennington Chantos, and grandson, Jonathan Robert Lennington Chantos, died Oct. 11, 1983, as the result of an airplane crash.
Also preceded is a brother, one half brother and one half sister.
Mr. Lennington and his wife moved to Jackson in 1956 from Chester, Ill. He worked for the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson for 16 years. He owned and operated the former Lennington Sales and Service for three years and worked for the former Charles Sander Hardware for three years. He retired after 17 years of service from Procter & Gamble in 1983 due to health conditions.
He was a former Sunday school teacher at the First Baptist Church in Jackson. He was founding member of the Shawnee Hills Baptist Church of Jackson but was attending the First General Baptist Church of Jackson.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion and VFW in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation.
