Kenneth L. Hayden, 67, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at his home.
He was born Nov. 6, 1934, in Perryville, Mo., son of Edward and Helen Cissell Hayden. He and Glenda Parsons were married July 24, 1993.
Mr. Hayden was a graduate of St. Vincent de Paul High School in Perryville and Southeast Missouri State University. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1953-57.
He was in the banking industry in Cape Girardeau 35 years, having worked at the former Cape Federal, Colonial Federal, First Federal, and retired from Boatmen's Bank in 1997.
Mr. Hayden was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church more than 40 years. He had also been a member of Cape Jaycees, Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, and SEMO Boosters.
He was chairman of the Notre Dame High School Fund, was an extraordinary minister and a member of several organizations, including Notre Dame High School Board of Directors, St. Francis Medical Center Board of Directors, St. Francis Foundation Board of Directors, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Capaha Bank Board of Directors, and Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife; five children, Mark Hayden of San Diego, Calif., Pamela Pfanstiel of Cape Girardeau, Lonette Piper of Oklahoma City, Okla., Greg Hayden of Olathe, Kan., Karla Hunter of Dongola, Ill.; five stepsons, Mike Parsons of St. Louis, David Parsons of Marathon, Fla., Mark Parsons of Cape Girardeau, Steve Parsons of Cape Girardeau, and John Parsons of Paris, France.
Also surviving is his father of Perryville; five sisters and brothers, Margie Carron of Perryville, Jerry Wingerter of Chester, Ill., Barbara LeCompte of St. Louis, Norman Hayden of Cape Girardeau, Deloris Monier of Perryville; 14 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and 11 stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. today. The Rev. Derek Staples will lead a prayer service at 8:30 p.m., followed by recitation of the rosary.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Church. The Rev. Oscar Lukefahr and the Rev. Charles Prost will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mark Hayden, Greg Hayden, Mike Parsons, David Parsons, Mark Parsons, Steve Parsons, John Parsons and David Pfanstiel.
A memorial scholarship fund has been established through the St. Francis Medical Center Foundation titled The Kenneth Hayden Nursing Scholarship.
