SIKESTON, Mo. -- Kenneth Lee Dement Jr., 57, of Sikeston, beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, died Monday, Sept. 16, 2013.
He was born May 2, 1956, in San Diego, to the late Kenneth L. Dement Sr. and Gail Fennessey.
Kenny graduated from Sikeston High School, Southeast Missouri State University and the University of Tulsa Law School.
He practiced law in Sikeston almost 30 years. A sportsman, member of Sigma Chi fraternity, avid fisherman and outdoorsman, he found great joy in nature and on the water. He was a loving friend to many, kind and generous, and took great pride in his family.
He is survived by his wife, Drew R. Dement of Sikeston; his mother, Gail (Joe) Fennessey of Denver; three children, Gabriel (Jennifer) Lee Dement of Sikeston, Erin Elizabeth Dement of Hannibal, Mo., and Ellie (Brad) Miller Preslar of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Jerry (Toni) Dement of Cape Girardeau and Randy (Debbie) Dement of Centennial, Colo.; two sisters, Laura (George Biel) Dement of Aurora, Colo., and Mary (Jim) Dement Below of Sikeston; two grandchildren, Karleigh Dement and Tucker Dement of Sikeston; many nieces and nephews; and a multitude of loving friends who meant the world to Kenny.
Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Lee Dement Sr.; a sister, Maureen Dement; and his grandparents.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until time of memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday at Ponder Funeral Home.
