BENTON, Mo. — Kelley Melvin Nelson, 73, of Benton, formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Feb. 10, 1935, in Sikeston, son of George Marvin and Hope Kelley Nelson.
Nelson lived in Sikeston most of his life, where he was employed a number of years with Wholesale Food Distributing and had been assistant manager at Ramada Inn. He had attended Morehouse Church of Christ.
He is survived by his life companion, Betty Jean Haley of the home; a son, Kelley Nelson Jr. of Sikeston; four daughters, Lisa Stewart and Cheryl Faulkner of Sikeston, Brenda Collins of Benton, Jennifer Green of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to service time Friday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo.
Graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday at Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston, with the Rev. Ted Wimberley officiating.
