Kay D. Sonntag, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at her home.
She was born Jan. 15, 1931, in Bluffs, Illinois, to Lester L. and Bernice Anna Mueller Sappington. She and Walter Sonntag were married June 26, 1954, in Washington, D.C.
Kay lived in Cape Girardeau from 1976 to 2009 and again since July of this year. She was formerly a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
She was a tax auditor with the Internal Revenue Service.
Survivors include two daughters, Joan (Roger) Vessell of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Barbara (Rocky) Bender of Cape Girardeau; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Sonntag of Carmel, Indiana; two brothers, Russell (Ladema) Sappington of Griggsville, Illinois, and David (Connie) Sappington of Pittsfield, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Brittany (Darrin) Beal, Stephanie Clark, Jenna Bender, Ryan (Tara) Vessell, Brett Vessell, Alexa Vessell, Eric (Jenifer) Sonntag, Tyler Sonntag and Ariel (Jarret) Roloff; two great-grandchildren, Quinn Vessell and Isaiah Roloff.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Robert Sonntag; and a sister, Connie Baker.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or Disabled American Veterans.
