KATY THIELE

Katy Hengst Thiele, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born May 24, 1909, in Ridgeway, N.C., daughter of Matthew and Elizabeth Schwemmel Sinn. She first married Jesse Hengst Nov. 4, 1933, in Cape Girardeau. She and Fred Thiele were married Oct. 5, 1958, in Cape Girardeau. He died Aug. 11, 1993.

Thiele had been a housekeeper and farmer, retiring 15 years ago. She was a member of Scriptural Evangelical Lutheran Church at Egypt Mills. She had lived in Cape Girardeau County since 1923.

Survivors include two sons, David Hengst and Chester Hengst of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Juanita Exler of Cape Girardeau; a stepson, Carl Thiele of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a grandchild, two brothers, three sisters, three half brothers, and two half sisters.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Scriptural Church, with the Rev. Henry Gieschen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
