Kathryn Finch Tolliver, 97, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at The Chateau Girardeau Health Center. She was born June 8, 1910, at Fornfelt, Mo., daughter of Judge James A. and Carrie Lehman Finch. She spent her childhood in New Madrid, Mo., before moving to Cape Girardeau in 1926. She and Keith R. "Bill" Tolliver were married June 30, 1936. He died Nov. 2, 1995...

Kathryn Finch Tolliver, 97, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at The Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

She was born June 8, 1910, at Fornfelt, Mo., daughter of Judge James A. and Carrie Lehman Finch. She spent her childhood in New Madrid, Mo., before moving to Cape Girardeau in 1926. She and Keith R. "Bill" Tolliver were married June 30, 1936. He died Nov. 2, 1995.

Tolliver attended Southeast Missouri State Teachers College for two years before transferring to the University of Missouri, where she was a member of Alpha Phi and the women's rifle club. She graduated in 1932 with a bachelor of arts degree. In 1933 she received a bachelor of science in education from Southeast Missouri State University. For two years she taught at Broadway School.

Tolliver was one of the oldest members of Centenary United Methodist Church and was active in the United Methodist Women and with Centenary's music committee. She was a member of the Southeast Missouri Hospital Auxiliary, a member of Chapter BI of PEO, active in the SEMO Training School PTO, a member of the Community Concert Association and a Brownie and Girl Scout leader.

Tolliver was an excellent cook and loved to play bridge and other card games.

Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Tolliver Putsavage and husband, Larry, of Yardley, Pa.; three grandchildren, William Alan Thomas of San Francisco, Amy Thomas Archer and husband, Lance, of Saratoga, Calif., Kathryn Jane Putsavage of Boulder, Colo.; two great-stepgranddaughters, Melissa Archer and Shannon Archer; a great-grandson, Bryant Thomas Archer, all of Saratoga, Calif. In addition, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Delores Finch of Cape Gir­ar­deau, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carolyn Tolliver Thomas; two brothers, Judge James A. Finch Jr. and Lehman Finch.

Burial will be at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19 at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Centenary United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jeff Long officiating.

Visitation will be held in the Limbaugh Parlor immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Centenary United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association or a charity of one's choice.

Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel is handling arrangements.
