Kathryn M. Penrod, 83, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2012, at her home in Jackson.

She was born Dec. 6, 1929, at Neelys Landing, daughter of Jason and Lillian Williamson Craft. She and Clinton Penrod Jr. were married Feb. 13, 1948, in Jackson. He passed away June 21, 2005.

Kathryn worked 40 years at the Florsheim Shoe Co. in Jackson. She was a lifelong member of New Bethel Baptist Church near Neelys Landing, where she was a member of WMU, church choir and the bereavement committee. She helped serve meals at the Baptist Student Union at Southeast Missouri State University, and volunteered at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include a son, Bruce (Becky) Penrod; three daughters, Brenda (Mike) Nagel, Bonnie Farrow and Barbara Hadler, all of Jackson; three sisters, Maxine (Alvin) Schenimann and Delores (Lyman) King of Jackson, Judy (Johnny) Ward of Millersville; six grandchildren, Robert Penrod, April (Glendon) Kennedy, Kristy (Neil) Petzoldt, Kendra (Amos) Evans, Ridge Farrow and Haley Hadler; and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Penrod in 1970; a brother, Lyman; and two sisters, Peggy and Betty.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Thomas Bray and John Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to New Bethel Baptist Church or Southeast Hospice.
