COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Kathryn Huey Kirsch, 86, of Columbia, known as Virginia to her friends and family, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Columbia Manor in Columbia. COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Kathryn Huey Kirsch, 86, of Columbia, known as Virginia to her friends and family, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Columbia Manor in Columbia.

She was born May 8, 1926, in Blodgett, Mo., to Harvey and Lillian Brumley Huey. She and Grover Kirsch were married May 15, 1949, in Fornfelt Mo.

They spent their first year of marriage in Chicago, then moved to Cahokia, Ill. A job transfer sent them to Cape Girardeau in 1965. Upon retirement they moved to Columbia. She had many interests but her passion was family gatherings. She delighted in hosting family visits, and her home was full of good food, love and welcome for all.

She is survived by her husband, Grover Kirsch; two daughters, Deshay Rust and husband Stephen of Columbia and Michelle Red and husband Mike of Liberty Hill, Texas; two granddaughters, April Harkin and Delaney Red; and numerous nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Mary Lee Walker.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Midway Heights Baptist Church in Columbia.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of arrangements.
