Kathryn Louise "Kay" Stiegemeyer Bender went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021.
She was born Sept. 14, 1926, in Diggins, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Edward Martin Bender.
She is survived by daughters, Diane Maurer of Cape Girardeau and Miriam (Jim) Larson of Knoxville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Matthew (Trish) Maurer of Argyle, Wisconsin; Ryan (Lulu Jiang) Maurer of Argyle, Texas; Mikaela (Eric) Fuchs of North Augusta, South Carolina; J. Aaron (Marie) Larson of Nashville; Andrew (Jennifer) Maurer of Cape Girardeau and Lt. j.g. Micah Larson with the U.S. Coast Guard in Portsmouth, Virginia; great-grandchildren, Henry, Seth and Max Fuchs, and Madison, Amelia and Isaac Maurer; a sister, Lucille (Jim) Boyle of Helena, Alabama; and brother-in-law, Kenneth (Martha) Bender of Cape Girardeau.
Kathryn served her Lord for many years as a teacher in Lutheran schools around the country.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until funeral service time Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape girardeau, where Kathryn was a long-time member.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with burial following the service at Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran School Foundation or Saint Francis Hospice.
