Katherine D. Hency-Murphy, 53, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Benton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at her home. She was born June 13, 1964, in Augsburg, Germany, to Donald L. and Katherine Fern Wissmann Hency. She and Kenneth Wayne Murphy were married Oct. 5, 2007, in Kansas City. Katherine D. Hency-Murphy, 53, of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Benton, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at her home.

She was born June 13, 1964, in Augsburg, Germany, to Donald L. and Katherine Fern Wissmann Hency. She and Kenneth Wayne Murphy were married Oct. 5, 2007, in Kansas City. He preceded her in death May 16, 2008.

Kathy attended Scott City Schools and Thomas W. Kelly School in Benton. She lived for her three kids and grandkids. Kathy loved to crochet things for her family and friends.

Survivors include her father, Donald L. Hency of Oran, Missouri; one daughter, Holly K. (Dave) LaRose of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Chris (Victoria) Hency and Dustin Hency of Kansas City; three brothers, Greg (Carolyn) Hency of Benton, Jeff (Mary) Hency of Scott City and Kenny (Christy) Hency of Oran; three grandchildren, Austin LaRose, Tyi`Ronn Hency and Tenihia Hency, and expected arrival of triplets in May; and special friend, Billy Samuels of Kansas City.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Frank Burgess officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family of Kathy Hency-Murphy to help with funeral expenses.
