ANNA, Ill. -- Kasey Rueffer, 62, of Anna died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at her home, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born April 23, 1945, in Chicago, and grew up in Carrier Mills, Ill., later moving to Carbondale, Ill., during her high school years. She was the daughter of Raymond and Helen Davidson. She and Terry Rueffer were married March 2, 1991, in Mount Vernon, Ill.
Rueffer graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a bachelor's degree in journalism, followed by some graduate work.
She lived in Denver two years and worked as an investment correspondent with Hamilton Funds Inc. After traveling in Europe several months, she returned to Carbondale where she was a library technical assistant 10 years at SIU Morris Library. In 1980 she was hired as an employment counselor at SIU human resources and later worked as AP position administrator for the same department. She was active in SIU community committee work and was a member of the Civil Service Council. She retired in 2001 from SIU after 31 years of service.
Rueffer was a lifetime member of Friends of Stinson Library and a former member of Anna Jo Garden Club. She was a member of St. Mary's Church.
Survivors include her husband and a sister, Lola Riley of Harrisburg, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Church, with Monsignor Dennis Schaefer officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
