Karen L. Borgfield Vogelsang, 65, of Houston, formerly of Jackson, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020, at her home in Houston.

She was born April 11, 1954, in Cape Girardeau, to Kenneth and Peggy Martin Borgfield. She was a graduate of Jackson High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University.

Karen resided the past 40 years in Houston, where she worked in various business. Most recently she worked in real estate.

Karen was a proponent of no-kill animal shelters. She loved dogs and appreciated the meaning they brought to life.

Loving survivors include her parents, Kenneth and Peggy Borgfield of Jackson; brother, Steve (Carol) Borgfield of Jackson; nieces, Sara (Adam) Meyer and Ashley Borgfield; great-nephews, Hunter Borgfield and Grant Meyer; great-nieces, Adalynn Meyer and Zoey Schaffer; and her beloved female Boston terrier, Squishy.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Cindy Jo Borgfield; paternal grandparents, Clarence and Edna Borgfield; and maternal grandparents, Clyde and Mildred Martin.

The family will privately honor Karen with a graveside service at St. John's Cemetery near Fruitland, where she will be laid to rest next to her sister, Cindy Jo. Dr. Rodney Pensel will officiate.

Arrangements are by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Memorials are suggested to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri or St. John's Cemetery.
