SIKESTON, Mo. -- J.W. Staggs, 63, of Sikeston died Sunday, June 22, 2003, at his home.

He was born March 11, 1940, in Collinwood, Tenn., son of Wilson and Mary Lou Fraley Staggs. He and Brenda J. Rapert were married March 24, 1990, in Charleston, Mo.

Staggs had worked at Anchor Toy, then with Sears Delivery and Fencing, and had been a truck driver with Reliable Freight, Atlas Carriers, M&M Farm Lines and Emcal Trucking. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

He served in Missouri National Guard.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jerry Staggs of Fort Smith, Ark., Jeff Robey of Dover, Ark., Shawn Staggs of Sikeston; a daughter, Tina Mills of Little Rock, Ark.; a niece raised by the Staggs, Jennifer Rapert of the home; three brothers, Tommy, Willie and Danny Staggs of Sikeston; a sister, Marilyn Graham of Sikeston; and three grandchildren.

Friends may call at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Lemons officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery at Charleston.
