McCLURE, Ill. -- J.W. Oxford, 84, of McClure died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at his home. He was born Aug. 28, 1924, in Huffman, Ark., son of John and Blanche Bell Oxford. He and Betty Cullen were married June 10, 1945, in St. Louis. She died Dec. 14, 1997...

McCLURE, Ill. -- J.W. Oxford, 84, of McClure died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at his home.

He was born Aug. 28, 1924, in Huffman, Ark., son of John and Blanche Bell Oxford. He and Betty Cullen were married June 10, 1945, in St. Louis. She died Dec. 14, 1997.

Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Cygonowicz of Glen Carbon, Ill.; two brothers, Raymond Oxford of McClure, Billy Oxford of Cape Girardeau; three sisters, Peggy Maxwell of Cape Girardeau, Pansy Huffman of High Falls, Ga., Marjorie Rendleman of McClure; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter and a brother.

Private service will be held Dec. 10 at Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.

Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements.
