ORAN -- Funeral for Justine T. Melton of Oran will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Rev. David Thompson will officiate, with burial in Oakdale Cemetery at Commerce.

Friends may call at the chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.

Melton, 72, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 3, 1926, at Perryville, daughter of John and Frances Einsel Kuss. She and John "Jay" Melton were married Feb. 1, 1947, in Cape Girardeau. He died April 7, 1989.

The Meltons owned and operated Melton's 66 Service Station in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of Commerce Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, John Melton of Oran; two brothers, John Kuss of Sodus, Mich., and Edward Kuss of Victoria, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a son.
