Junior Lee Petzoldt, 87, of Pocahontas passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at Lutheran Home after battling a long-term infection from an amputation. Junior Lee Petzoldt, 87, of Pocahontas passed away Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at Lutheran Home after battling a long-term infection from an amputation.

Junior was born, June 16, 1933, in New Wells to Anton and Edna Koenig Petzoldt. Junior and Jean Kieninger were married on July 2, 1962, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas.

Junior was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, where he served as the Lutheran Laymen's League membership chairman. He also took care of the church grounds for many years.

Junior worked at East Perry Lumber Co. in Frohna, Missouri, until his retirement in 1995. He loved raising sheep and was a master gardener. He also loved tinkering with cars and lawnmowers.

Loving survivors include his wife, Jean Petzoldt; sons, Bruce Petzoldt of Pocahontas, Jeff (Pam) Petzoldt of Cape Girardeau and Roger (Jody) Petzoldt of Jackson; grandchildren, Jordan, Adelyn (Seth) Schlegel, Arthur (fiancee Maegan), Ben and LoriAnne (fiance Nick); brother, Herb (Dorsey) Petzoldt of Altenburg, Missouri; sisters, Ardene Koenig of Arnold, Missouri, and Shirlene (Earl) Miller of Perryville, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friend and caregiver, Tammy Hahs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Tim, Harold, Harland and Pearl; and sisters, Viola and Ruth.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas.

A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, at the church, with Pastor Virgil Kelm officiating.

Due to the mask mandate in Cape Girardeau County, masks will be mandatory at the visitation and service.

Burial will be at a later date with immediate family only.

The Petzoldt family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at Southeast Hospital, Barnes Hospital, Landmark Hospital and Lutheran Home for all the love and care they gave Junior over the past five months.
