GORDONVILLE -- Albert "Junior" Gross, 76, of Gordonville died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 7, 1921, at Gordonville, son of Albert G. and Clara M. Meier Gross. He and Alberta Lou Ahrens were married Jan. 13, 1945, at Gordonville.

Gross owned and operated a dairy farm many years. He was a carpenter with Thompson Construction Co. in Cape Girardeau from 1977 until retiring in 1986. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.

He played baseball for the Cape Capahas in the late 1940s and 1950s. He coached Little League baseball and basketball in Jackson.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Davis Gross of Paola, Kan., Richard Gross of Gordonville; a daughter, Karen Haupt of Egypt Mills; two sisters, Dorothy Wessell of Gordonville, Mary Birk of Fredericktown; and three grandsons.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, and Monday at Christ Church from 9 a.m. to service time.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. D. Lee Cullen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
