Julius "Jay" Biester, 91, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 14, 1926, in Tilsit, son of Henry W. and Faye Phillips Biester. He and Judith McIntyre were married Nov. 14, 1963, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

Jay was drafted April 29, 1946, into the U.S. Army and was discharged April 28, 1960.

He worked as a farm equipment mechanic for many years, being employed by Gowins Farm Equipment, Heuer Equipment in Cape Girardeau and O'Loughlin Farms in Southeast Missouri. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau since 1967.

Loving survivors include his wife of 54 years, Judith Biester of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Carla Burnett (Larry Kitchen) of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Ricky (Porsha) Biester of Portland, Tennessee, and Jeff Biester of Perryville, Missouri; two sisters, Alberta Wilke of Cape Girardeau and Millicent Fluegge of Jackson; 19 grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three children, Kevin Wayne Biester, Tonya Sue Biester and Paul Biester; a brother, Melvin Biester; and a sister, Elvira Best.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Graveside funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Russell Heights Cemetery, with the Rev. Daniel Maske officiating.

The family suggests contributions be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau or to McCombs Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.
