JACKSON -- Julie N. Coates, 60, of Jackson died Saturday, Sept. 11, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born April 17, 1939, at Washington, D.C., daughter of Julian Lake and Janet Brown Nugent. She and James H. Coates were married July 7, 1964.
She graduated from the National Cathedral School for Girls at Washington, D.C. She then attended Colby College at Waterville, Maine, before earning a master of arts in teaching degree from Wesleyan University in Connecticut.
She and her husband began teaching together at a bi-national high school at Cali, Columbia, South America. They moved to Jackson in 1973.
Survivors include her husband; a son, James "Andy" Coates of Jackson; two daughters, Joan R. Coates of College Station, Texas and Jean C. Lewis of St. Louis; her father of Las Vegas, N.M.; a sister, Joan E. Warner of Lambertville, N.J.; and three grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson is in charge of arrangements. Services will be private.
