Funeral for Julian V. Howes of Cape Girardeau will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Mark Anderson will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Howes, 73, died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Jan. 8, 1925, in Cape Girardeau, son of Herbert H. and Loretta Marie Mabrey Howes. He and Louise Anderson were married July 3, 1947, in Cape Girardeau.
Howes was a 1943 graduate of Central High School. He was circulation manager at the Southeast Missourian Newspaper many years. He also had been district representative with the St. Louis Post Circulation Department, retiring in 1987.
He was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church, was an ordained deacon, and choir member. He was a former member of Breakfast Optimist Club, a 32nd Degree Mason with St. Mark Masonic Lodge, and was assistant leader of Boy Scout Troop 10.
Howes was a corporal in the U.S. Army, serving in Italy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Scott Howes of St. Louis; a daughter, Julia Jorgensen of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Charlotte Kuykendall of Silsbee, Texas; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
