POPLARBLUFF, Mo. -- Julia Yvonne Norton, 66, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of CapeGirardeau, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
She was born Nov. 1, 1936, daughter of J.Y. and Fern Huffman. She and Charles were married Dec. 27, 1952, at Pocahontas, Ark.
Norton was an operator at Southwestern Bell Telephone, a hairstylist and a secretary for Poplar Bluff Senior High. She and her husband founded and operated C.E. Norton Company, where she was office manager. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Terre Johnson and Julie Smothers, both of Poplar Bluff, and Kerre Cassidy of Collierville, Tenn.; a son, Ed Norton of Poplar Bluff; a brother, Don Huffman of Azle, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son.
Friends may call at 6 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Poplar Bluff. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with Dr. William Vail officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
