Julia Kathryn "Judy" Jackson, 83, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 14, 1928, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Horace Leo and Vera Gusta Anderson Jackson. She and Arthur "Bud" Jackson were married Aug. 17, 1947, in Ste. Genevieve, Mo. He preceded her in death Nov. 2, 2007.

Julia was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau more than 60 years, and was also a faithful member of its choir for the same period. She was very passionate about music and singing. She had continued with voice lessons over the years so that her voice would be ready to participate in the choir, sing solos or sing at special events. Julia was a charter member of the Cape Choraliers, a wonderful community choir that gained acclaim when chosen to sing at the Seattle World's Fair in 1962.

Julia loved working with children as she was a preschool teacher more than 25 years in various local early childhood development schools and learning centers.

She was a loyal and devoted wife to her husband, Art, and to their children as they were both active leaders in Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and PTA.

Julia was also a very big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team, hardly ever missing a game.
