Judith H. "Judy" Tompkins, 63, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, in St. Louis. She was born Feb. 14, 1941, daughter of Watt and Ella Frost Jachim. Judith H. "Judy" Tompkins, 63, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, in St. Louis.

She was born Feb. 14, 1941, daughter of Watt and Ella Frost Jachim.

Tompkins grew up in the Chicago area, where she taught elementary school, operated CEF Good News Clubs and was involved in several local church ministries. She had been a Girl Scout leader.

She managed various businesses, including Cock Robin, Jack in the Box and an X-ray clinic. She moved to Southern Illinois in 1980 and later to Cape Girardeau. She was a medical secretary at Southeast Missouri Hospital from 1981 until December 2004.

Survivors include three daughters, Charlene Howington of Wheaton, Ill., Sandra Tite of Pinckneyville, Ill., and Rebecca Tompkins of St. Louis.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Dayspring Missionary Baptist Church in Jackson, with the Rev. Steve Francis officiating.
