CENTRALIA, Ill. -- Judith Rae Simpson, 76, of Centralia passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023, at White Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
She was born Oct. 28, 1946, in Thebes, Illinois, the daughter of Walter Thomas and Lena Hewitt Simpson.
Judith worked at Warren G. Murray Center for 30-plus years. She was a member of Central City Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and volunteered for other activities. She enjoyed working on genealogy, reading and making crafts.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Walter "Scoop" (Marie) Simpson; and four sisters, Tommie Jean (Jack) Craine, Mary Joe (Ray) Jaco, Jenna Lee (Harry) Pink and Bobbie Bernice (Donald) Shafer.
Per Judith's wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to service time Saturday, April 29, at the Jones Funeral Home in Tamms, Illinois.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Central City Baptist Church.
