Funeral service for Joyce O. Meyer will be held at 10 a.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with the Rev. John Owen officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Woodlawn Cemetery at Campbell, with the Rev. Jay Wilkens officiating.
Meyer, 90, died Saturday, May 17, 1997, at Chateau Girardeau.
She was born May 23, 1906, in Campbell, daughter of Corley and Beulah McCutchen Overall. She married Louis F. Meyer July 22, 1929, at Marshall. He died April 18, 1978.
Meyer was a 1924 graduate of Campbell High School and attended Lindenwood College in St. Charles, University of Colorado at Boulder and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a bachelor's degree in secondary education. She and her husband taught together at several schools throughout the area.
Mrs. Meyer taught in Jackson until retiring in 1971 after 33 years of teaching. She moved to Cape Girardeau in 1978. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, Order of Eastern Star Chapter 92 at Campbell, Omega chapter of Missouri Delta Kappa Gamma in Cape Girardeau, Cape County Unit of Retired Teachers, and Chalk Bluff Daughters of the American Revolution at Campbell.
Survivors include two sons, Louis Meyer of Millersville, Paul Meyer of Des Peres; two grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
