Joyce Emily Kahtz, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at her home. She was born Jan. 27, 1927, in Edwardsville, Ill., daughter of Ralph and Walda Muench Irvin. Joyce Emily Kahtz, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, April 15, 1999, at her home.

She was born Jan. 27, 1927, in Edwardsville, Ill., daughter of Ralph and Walda Muench Irvin. She and Robert Kahtz were married Aug. 28, 1946, in Edwardsville.

Kahtz graduated from Edwardsville High School, and attended Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

She moved to Cape Girardeau in May 1950 from Rolla. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Ladies Golf Association.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Bradley Kahtz of Franklin, Tenn.; a daughter, Karen Goins of Houston, Texas; a brother, Ralph Irvin of Beloit, Wis.; a sister, Iva Nelson of Edwardsville; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Brendan Dempsey officiating. A committal service will be held at 3 p.m. in Sunset Hills Cemetery in Edwardsville, with the Rev. Jim Coode officiating.
