Joyce Hagerman

MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Joyce L. Hagerman, 87, of Mound City, formerly of Bethalto, Illinois, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015, at the Cape Retirement Community in Cape Girardeau.

Joyce was born Oct. 30, 1927, in Mound City, daughter of the late Otho Morehead and Alberta Smithey Morehead.

Joyce was a member of the Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto, was a 1949 graduate from St. Mary's School of Nursing in Cairo, Illinois, where she became a registered nurse working in area hospitals and retiring from a nursing home in Bethalto.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward William Hagerman; her daughter, Staci Hagerman; a brother, Morris Morehead; and a sister, Nina Heater.

Survivors include nieces, Quida Haralambidis and Morrissa Clanahan, both of Olive Branch, Illinois, and Belinda Lindley of East Alton, Illinois; nephew, James (Aileen) Malone of Nampa, Idaho; and several great-nieces and -nephews.

A local visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge, Illinois.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bethalto with a noon visitation.
