Joy Chapman, 81, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
She was born July 12, 1936, in Charleston, Missouri, to Ode David and Christine Scheffer Lape.
She was a certified nurse assistant at Saint Francis Medical Center and was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary in Sikeston, Missouri. She loved to spend time with family and enjoyed traveling.
She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.
Survivors include her two daughters, Debra (Bryan) Skaggs of Thebes, Illinois, and Alicia (Chris Branch) Chapman of Castle Rock, Colorado; a sister, Betty (Sonny) Tucker of St. Louis; three brothers, Dennis (Odessa Lottie) Lape of Littleton, Colorado, David (Donna) Lape of Chaffee, Missouri, and Michael Lape of St. Louis; and a granddaughter, Morgan Crites of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Muriel Lape.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be held at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer's Association Greater Missouri, St. Mary Cathedral or Southeast Hospice.
