Josephine Ida Schuessler, 96, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, at Southeast Hospital.
She was born Oct. 15, 1923, in Cape Girardeau County to John Henry Phillip and Amanda Rosine Springer Frank. She and Victor G. Schuessler were married Sept. 9, 1945, at Hanover Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Dec. 25, 2003.
She was a cook for the Cape Girardeau School District for more than 30 years, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church, where she was involved with Ladies Aid, Bible class and Wednesday Bible study group.
Survivors include her daughter, Ruth A. (Larry) Burroughs of Frohna, Missouri; sons, H. Marty (Sharon) Schuessler of Jackson and Charles "Chuck" (Mary) Schuessler of Sedgewickville, Missouri; sister, Hermenia Westrich of Cape Girardeau; sister-in-law, Adella Frank of Chaffee, Missouri; grandchildren, Julie (Andy) Peralta, Chad (Ashely) Schuessler, Pam (Jeff) Scott, Angela (John) Kelly, Erica (Jason) Schmidt, Christina (Tracey) Thomas, Laura (David) Mahoney and Benjaman Schuessler; and great-grandchildren, Hannah and Emma Scott, Tristan and Ethan Schmidt, Mackenzie Thomas, Aron and Paisley Mahoney, Wyatt and Stella Schuessler and Jack Kelly.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hanover Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Steven Theiss officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to Hanover Lutheran Church Building Fund or a charity of choice.
