LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Josephine M. Holweg, 87, of Leopold passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Woodland Hills Nursing Home. She was born April 3, 1926, on the family farm near Leopold, daughter of Henry and Frances Seiler Wubker. She and Henry H. Holweg were married Nov. 7, 1945, in Leopold, and he passed away Aug. 13, 1985...

LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Josephine M. Holweg, 87, of Leopold passed away Saturday, July 6, 2013, at Woodland Hills Nursing Home.

She was born April 3, 1926, on the family farm near Leopold, daughter of Henry and Frances Seiler Wubker. She and Henry H. Holweg were married Nov. 7, 1945, in Leopold, and he passed away Aug. 13, 1985.

Josephine was an active member of St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold. She was an avid quilter, making quilts for her children, grandchildren and various charities. She enjoyed gardening, especially growing flowers, which she used to make bouquets for the church for many years.

Her grandchildren remember her best for making homemade bread and jam, putting puzzles together with them and playing games: Uno, Skipbo, dominoes, Aggravation and Chinese checkers.

Survivors include her sons, Norman (Brenda) Holweg of Marble Hill, Mo., Elmer (Keiko) Holweg of Puxico, Mo., Raymond Holweg of Allenville, and Neal (Mary) Holweg of Leopold; daughters, Helen (Gary) Georger of Advance, Mo., Susan (Terry) Green of Crump, Marian Holweg of Leopold, Carleen (Bill) Johns of Brownwood, Mo., and Patty (Tom) Jones of rural Leopold; brother, Elmer Wubker of Leopold; sisters, Alene Fels and Barbara Seyer of Cape Girardeau, Hilda (Leo) Berhoff of Kelso, Mo., Adel Wubker of Leopold and Wilma (Norman) Seabaugh of Millersville; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter and family, Dorothy and Kenny Nenninger, Duane, Danny, and Cindy; three infant daughters, Evelyn, Cathy and Catherine; one sister, Irene Beussink; and an infant brother, Edward Wubker.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Homes in Marble Hill, with parish prayers and rosary at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold, with the Rev. William Hennecke officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
