Joseph Franklin "Joe" Raines, 86, of Scott City died Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 26, 1926, in Fornfelt, to Franklin Riley and Anna Pauline Leible Raines. He married Dorothy Nadine "Dot" Menees on Dec. 23, 1946, in Fornfelt.
Joe was a self-employed farmer and worked at Central Packing Co. in Cape Girardeau. He was a member of Broadway Methodist Church in Scott City, VFW Post 6407, American Legion Post 369 in Benton, Mo., and past Scott City school board member.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bruce (Janie) Raines and Alan (Cathy) Raines of Scott City, Wesley Raines of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Robin ("Bub") Moore of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Alene (Butch) Heisserer of Scott City; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Barbara Ruth; four brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with Larry Dunger officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Memorial Cemetery, with full military honors conducted.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Broadway United Methodist Church in Scott City.
