SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Joseph Ireland Pettit, 64, of Scott City died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at John J. Pershing Veterans Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Mo.
He was born Feb. 25, 1936, in Messler, Mo., son of Thomas Theodore and Freda Kennedy Pettit. He and Linda Younette Holmes were married Nov. 1, 1963, in Doe Run, Mo.
He was a truck driver for Southeast Stone.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Brian Pettit of Oak Grove, Mo., and Keith Pettit of Scott City; three daughters, Kim Hensley of Scott City, Sandy Pettit of East Cape Girardeau, Ill., and Pam Jenkins of Millersville, Mo.; two brothers, Ray Pettit and Donald Pettit, both of Perkins, Mo.; three sisters, Norma Phegley of Flint, Mich., Shelba Sutherland of Swartz Creek, Mich., and Betty Stearns of Benton, Mo.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
No visitation will be held.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Williams Cemetery in Perkins, with the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating.
