MATTHEWS, Mo. -- Joseph B. Pace Sr., 74, of Matthews died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born July 3, 1926, in Lakeland, Fla., son of Sam T. and Elizabeth Bryan Pace. He and Alma Wallen were married Jan. 26, 1962, at St. Louis...

MATTHEWS, Mo. -- Joseph B. Pace Sr., 74, of Matthews died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 3, 1926, in Lakeland, Fla., son of Sam T. and Elizabeth Bryan Pace. He and Alma Wallen were married Jan. 26, 1962, at St. Louis.

He had lived in New Madrid County for most of his life. He worked as a postal clerk for 34 years at the Sikeston post office. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marines, having served during World War II. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of Charleston Masonic Lodge 407 and was a 32nd degree Mason.

Survivors include his wife and a son, Joseph B. Pace II, both of Matthews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, Mo. Masonic services will be conducted at 7 p.m. by Charleston Masonic Lodge 407.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with burial at Memorial Park Cemetery.
