JACKSON -- Joseph Omer James, 77, of Florissant, formerly of Jackson, died Saturday, Aug. 28, 1993 at the Americana Health Care Center in Florissant.
He was born March 10, 1916 in Jackson, the son of Jesse O. James and Abbie Koenen James.
He worked as a police officer with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, retiring after 37 years at the rank of sergeant.
He was married to the former Virginia Longin, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by one daughter, Jacqueline Kampmeinert, and one son, Paul James; and six grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday at White-Mullen Mortuary in Ferguson at 2 p.m.
Burial will follow at New Bethlehem Cemetery in St. Louis County.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 2-9 p.m.
