MINER -- Joseph N. Phillips, 82, of Miner Nursing Center, died Monday, Jan. 17, 1994, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Jan. 29, 1911, in Carthage, Tenn., son of Layton and Tenny Matthews Phillips. He and Edna Hurley were married Dec. 28, 1929.
Phillips was a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include his wife of the nursing center; two daughters, Patsy Abernathy, Charleston Route 3, Voneita Myracle of Bertrand; two sisters, Eunice Cannon of Bertrand, Estel Gulley of St. Louis; nine grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at McMikle Funeral Chapel in Charleston. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Wednesday.
