Funeral for Joseph E. Moss of Appleton City, Mo., was held Thursday at the Church of Ste. Genevieve in Ste. Genevieve, Mo. The Revs. Robert Braun and John Patrick Day and Deacon George Wood officiated. Burial was in Valle Spring Cemetery in Ste. Genevieve.
Wood Family Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve was in charge of arrangements.
Moss, 52, died Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City. He was formerly of Ste. Genevieve and Cape Girard-eau.
He was born Feb. 2, 1948, in Cairo, Ill., son of Melvin and Frances Roberts Moss. He and Mary Wehrenberg were married June 28, 1969, in Cairo.
Moss was currently administrator at Ellett Memorial Hospital. He was administrator at Ste. Genevieve County Memorial Hospital 11 years. He lived in Cape Girardeau from 1970-88 and worked with Missouri PRO.
He was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University.
Moss was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus Council 1037; chairman of Community Development in Appleton City; and was past president of Missouri Hospital Association.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Angela Kertz and Amy Napier of Ste. Genevieve; a son, Joseph Moss of Ste. Genevieve; a brother, Melvin Moss of Sikeston, Mo.; a sister, Mary Bradshaw of Boonville, Mo.; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
