Joseph Kulenguski

Joseph A. Kulenguski, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born June 23, 1921, in St. Louis, son of Joseph and Frances Gibson Kulenguski. He first married Janet Ruth Korslund in 1945 in Hastings, Neb. She died in 1988. He then married Wanda Payne in July 1991.

Kulenguski served in the U.S. Air Force 27 years, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. He then worked for the General Services Administration 20 years, retiring in 1991. He lived in Europe several years and was in charge of supplies for embassies and bases all over Europe. He was responsible for logistics for a project in Saudi Arabia.

He received an MBA from the University of Southern California. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 2007 from Northern Virginia.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Joseph Kulenguski of Laytonsville, Md., Robert Kulenguski of Chesapeake, Va., James Kulen of Cayce, S.C., Michael Kulenguski of Graves Mill, Va., William Kulenguski of Merritt Island, Fla.; a daughter, Carol Noonan of Benbrook, Texas; two stepdaughters, Dianne Johnson of Cape Girardeau, Debbie Parrent of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a sister, Bonnie Tortorelli of Glendale, Calif.; a stepbrother, Ronald Williams of St. Charles, Mo.; a stepsister, Ruth Garrett; 15 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Burial will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
