Funeral service for Joseph W. Kies of Phoenix, Ariz., was held Monday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Revs. Thomas Bass and Miles White officiated, with burial in Memorial Park.
Kies, 54, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 1997, at his home.
He was born Sept. 26, 1943, in Sikeston, son of William and Thelma Chron Kies Jr. He grew up in Cape Girardeau and was a graduate of Central High School, and received degrees from Missouri Valley College at Marshall and Arizona State University.
Kies then moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., where he was a teacher.
He was an Eagle Scout and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Dessie Kies of Peoria, Ariz.; his mother of Jackson; and a brother, James Kies of Frankfort, Ky.
