Joseph David Hoffman Sr., 68, of Jackson passed away Saturday, March 19, 2022, surrounded by his loving family at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 7, 1953, in Cape Girardeau to the late Jerome Francis and Mary Orene Ballard Hoffman. Joseph married his sweetheart, Dollie Kaempfer, at St. Mary Cathedral on July 5, 1974.

He retired from Nordenia, now Mondi, in Jackson and was a member of St. Mary Cathedral.

Loving survivors include his wife of 47 years, Dollie Hoffman of Jackson; four children, Amy (Jamey) Knight of Jackson, Amanda (Charles) Rhyne of Scott City, Joseph (Amy) Hoffman, Jr. of Wentzville, Missouri, and Priscilla (Gary) Ledbetter of Jackson; 10 grandchildren, Tyler, Drake, Kailey, Morgan, Emilie, Addison, Ava, Owen, Jaxson, and Raelynn; brothers, Ken (Karen) Hoffman, Bob Hoffman, Jim (Kim) Hoffman, all of Cape Girardeau; sisters, Jane (Hugo) Lang of Paducah, Kentucky, Margie (Don) Reece of Olathe, Kansas, Rebecca (Richard) Essner of Cape Girardeau, and Cathy (Rich) Fehr of Cape Girardeau; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Jerry, and Martin Hoffman.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel with parish prayers and rosary at 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Cathedral with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
