NEW HAMBURG, Mo. -- Joseph L. Heuring, 81, of New Hamburg passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014, at the family home.
He was born March 21, 1933, in New Hamburg, to Lawrence and Clara Gosche Heuring. He and Margaret A. Chapman were married Jan. 10, 1959, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Hamburg.
Joseph served in the United States Army.
He retired as a salesman with Homestead Distributing in Sikeston, Missouri, where he worked 32 years. He was a member of St. Lawrence Church, American Legion in Benton, Missouri, and St. Joseph Sodality.
He played and coached fastpitch softball more than 30 years and was a member of the 1967 Schindler's State Fastpitch Softball team.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret of the home; a son, Dean (Leonna) Heuring of New Hamburg; a daughter, Sheila R. Beggs (fiance Kevin Dannenmueller) of Benton; a sister, Lorena (Henry) Beussink of New Hamburg; seven grandchildren, Ashley Beggs, Megan (Billy) Van Pelt, Whitney (Derrick) Uhrhan, Brooks (Heather) Heuring, Brant Heuring (fiancee Samantha Bentley), Brittney (Brock) Powers, Rolen Heuring; four great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Reece Van Pelt, Abigail and Gracie Heuring; two great-stepgrandchildren, Caleb and Isabella Helton.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth J. Heuring; three brothers, Charles, Elmer and Sylvester.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Lawrence Church. The parish rosary will be at 7 p.m.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with the Rev. Michael Casteel as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery with full military honors presented by Missouri Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Denis or St. Ambrose Catholic schools or American Red Cross.
