Joseph H. "Daddy-Joe" Medlin Sr., 83, of Arnold, formerly of Cape Girardeau and Festus, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 1997, at Cedar Hill.
He was born July 27, 1914, in Caruthersville, son of Thomas Joseph and Eva Belle Branch Medlin.
He married Geraldine "Hi-Ho" Chitwood Aug. 18, 1935.
He had been a truck driver for Standard Oil Co. and owned Fina service stations in Festus. He served in the Navy and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and First United Methodist Church in Festus.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Joseph H. Medlin Jr. of Bradenton, Fla.; two daughters, La Jean Bilbrey of Hot Springs Village, Ark., and Margaret F. Dudeck of Fenton; two sisters, Rosalee Burton of Atlanta, Ga., and Virginia Walker of Conroe, Texas; nine gradnchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at Chapel Hill Mortuary in Cedar Hill.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Ivan Horn officiating. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City.
