PERRYVILLE -- Joseph Edwin Stern, 52, of Perryville died Friday, March 7, 1997, at his residence.
He was born May 14, 1944, in Madison, Ill., son of Charles and Alice Lewis Stern. He worked for Gilster Mary Lee cereal plant, was a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam and a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Silver Lake.
He married Ruth Ann Mansfield on June 8, 1968, and she survives him.

He is also survived by one son, Brian Stern of Perryville; one brother, Bill Stern of St. Peters; and two sisters, Catherine Ann King of Phoenix, Ariz., and Charlotte Williams of Granite City, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter and one brother.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to time of service today at Young and Sons Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. today at the chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope cemetery.
