JOSEPH E. MOTES

PADUCAH, Ky. -- Joseph E. Motes, 58, of Paducah, Ky., died Saturday, Feb. 15, 1997, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

He was born July 21, 1938, in New Albany, Miss., son of James and Lilly Fair Motes. He married Mary Widdows in May 1994, in Paducah. She survives.

He was an auto mechanic and a member of the Gospel Assembly in Paducah.

He is survived by four daughters, Lisa Motes Kennedy of Paducah, Robin James of Chaffee, and Linda Hicks and Barbara Anderson, both of Tyler, Texas; two brothers, Roy Motes of Florida and Charles Motes of Texas; three sisters, Ruth Lewis of Mississippi, and Marie Whitworth and Geraldine Motes, both of Missouri; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Ensil Edmonds and Frank Widdows officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery in McClure, Ill.
