JACKSON -- Joseph D. Livers, 68, of Jackson, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1992, shortly after arrival at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He had an apparent heart attack while deer hunting.
He was born April 22, 1924, at Advance, son of James Thomas and Ethel Hendrickson Livers. He and Anna L. Crites were married Dec. 23, 1943.
Livers worked 34 years with National Gas Pipeline Co., retiring as foreman in March 1986. He was a past advocate of Knights of Columbus Council 6405, and past grand knight of Poplar Bluff KC Council.
The Livers moved to Jackson in 1982 from Hereford, Texas. He was a member and usher of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and member of Jackson KC Council. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Jerry Livers of Kansas City, Joseph Livers Jr. of Kaplan, La., James Livers of Rio Rancho, N.M.; three daughters, Brenda Bartels, Sharon Jones and Teresa Scheffel of Jackson; two brothers, Kinchlo Livers of St. Louis, Bill Livers of St. Charles; four sisters, Helen Jones and Christina Carlton of Advance, Janice Payton of Cape Girardeau, Ettadean Stephens of Bloomfield; 12 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Church. Msgr. William Stanton will officiate, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery at Advance.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7.
