Joseph G. Cullen, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2005, at his home.

He was born March 20, 1919, in Detroit, Mich., son of Joseph A. and Alice Voy Cullen. He married Aline M. Welter.

Cullen had been a lineman with Missouri Utilities. He was a member and former usher at St. Mary's Cathedral. He was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1111, member and past commander of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 16, member of American Legion in Jackson, VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau, and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 702.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Pat Cullen of Eldorado, Calif.; two daughters, Janis Carr of Austin, Texas, Voyann Smith of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Donald Cullen of Montague, Mich., John Cullen of Detroit; a sister, Josephine Woolley of Palm Springs, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Friends may call at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel from 4:30 to 8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7, followed by Knights of Columbus rosary.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Patrick Nwokoye officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery with full military honors by the Delta Team.
